Friday May 25
Tonight was one of our last nights in Paris, and there were
only a few things left on my to-do list. So even though it was almost closing
time, Chloe and I decided to go to the Pompidou Center because we probably
wouldn’t get another chance. From the outside, the Pompidou Center (the
Contemporary art museum) looks like it is made up of thousands of very colorful
pipes. It stands out like a neon sign amongst the other buildings in Paris,
which are much more subtle. I couldn’t decide whether or not I liked its
appearance. I think if it was anywhere else, like maybe in LA, it would be a
very cool looking building, but in Paris it just doesn’t fit in.
We had to take the elevator up to the museum and once we got
up there, the view was incredible. The sun was just setting so there was a
beautiful golden glow and we were just barely higher than the rooftops so it
was a view that I hadn’t really seen before. We got into the museum for free
and just started wandering around, analyzing the art and soaking it all up. I
understand that not everybody likes contemporary art, but I think Chloe and I
both really enjoyed ourselves. Although some of the pieces were a little
creepy, for the most part it was really inspiring for me. I was really excited
to see a bunch of cubist pieces as well as a few pieces by Pollock and Rothko. It
was a great way to spend our night!
Xoxo Heather.
