I. Bayeux.
My first impression of the town was that it was quiet and quaint. I was already loving the countryside (but still missing Paris of course.)
Bayeux is most famous for its tapestry. It tells the story of the Battle of Hastings and how William the Conqueror became the King of England. It is unknown exactly where the tapestry was made but it tells us many details about what life was like in 1066, including how boats were made at that time and what type of armor was worn. The tapestry itself is made from several cloths sewn together into a single strip about 230 feet long.
It is amazing when you think about all the handiwork that went into this tapestry. |
I also loved all the door knockers in the town.
II. American Cemetery and Pont du Hoc.
